Once A Draigen Always A Draigen
She must have been dead.
That was the thought running through the minds of all the townsfolk of Damont that looked on as the limp girl made no sign of life. None of them had made any attempt at helping her, other than the one man who had run off to call the priestess of the town. A funeral would be had here, most thought, most thought wrong.
The girl had been lying there for two days, found by a wandering merchant, not far from the boundaries of Damont. The girl had a certain elegance about her, even in her state. A fair complexion, curled dark hair to her waist. Her outfit was of a tattered dress, nothing more. Hours some waited for hope of life in the young girl, a few years short of adulthood. Though they were empty hours, hopeless the people made for home, as finally the priestess would arrive, only to leave once more in shock, to find her eldest brother.
The remaining few watching over the girl, bowed their heads in a silent prayer as the priest walked over to the girl. The priest was merely a young apprentice, but at that, he still carried much respect over the people. The sight of the girl took the priests calm air from him for a moment, but he quickly regained it, sending the townsfolk away.
"The girl is alive. None should worry for her."
He knew the girl. At least, he thought he did once, a specter she seemed. For the girl before him had died in front of his and hundreds others eyes, two years ago.
